Sozou
Tomorrow, imagined today
AI agents, websites and automation, shaped around how your business already works — in the languages your customers speak.
👋 I’m Heng Xin, the creator of Sozou. I’m a first-generation Australian-Chinese immigrant. I was born in Shunde, Guangzhou, and have been in Melbourne, Australia since the age of six. In addition to English, I speak conversational Cantonese and Mandarin.
There’s a particular kind of in-between that comes with growing up away from where you’re from — not quite one culture, not quite the other, and in the midst of it I spent much of that time in front of a screen: Microsoft Paint first, then PC and console games. It never occurred to me that any of it could be a career — it was just what was fun and in the moment.
Post-graduation, the plan was financial planning. Five years in financial services operations were meant to be the on-ramp to that.
The arrival of ChatGPT and watching a text box start doing what used to take a team made the slow, structured path to becoming an adviser feel like the wrong bet. I wanted something autonomous and fast-paced instead.
In between paths, I helped my brother start his dealership, MM Carz, alongside his co-founders. From December 2024 that turned into building the place’s website and digital presence, then automating the operations behind it, not just the storefront in front of it. It was that project I fell in love with — the building itself, and the speed of it — and that’s how Sozou was born.
I’ve had a soft spot for Japanese culture since I was a kid — Japanese classes in primary school, Japanese cartoons dubbed on TV, long before I understood either was “Japanese culture.” It grew into visiting Japan as a teenager and young adult — the culture, the food, the sport — and it’s a good part of why the name and the mark are Japanese rather than anything else.
Sozou comes from 想像, pronounced roughly “so-zoh” — imagination. (Properly romanised it’s sōzō, with macrons over both o’s; the brand name is a simplified spelling of the same word.) The mark is a single enso, brushed in one unbroken stroke: in Zen tradition, a circle completed the moment the brush lifts — a full-circle moment where thinking stops and something just gets made.
MEKIKI/目利き
AI models ranked among the best for building websites and apps on the public leaderboards.
Every morning, Mekiki, Sozou’s AI engine, checks the AI I build with and the AI behind your services against the latest public benchmarks and prices.
Its name is the Japanese word for the skill of judging quality.
No office lease, no staff and no outside investors. What you pay goes into your project.
The person you talk to is the person who builds it. Your project is never passed on to someone else.
I work with the same AI tools I build for clients, so one person can do what used to need a team.
What I build already runs at real businesses, such as MM Carz and BM Garage.
You know the price, in writing, before any work starts.
I speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin, and I build in the languages your customers speak.
How we work
You know your business. We help turn the part you want to improve into something that works for your customers and your team.
Step by step
The size of the project can change. Knowing what happens next shouldn’t.
Tell us what takes too much time, where customers get stuck and what you want to improve. We look at the tools and processes you already use.
Bring one real example of the problem you want to solve.
We define the first useful version: what it does, what it connects to and what is outside the scope. The proposal sets out costs, responsibilities and a timeline before the build starts.
You know what is included and where your input is needed.
We build around the agreed scope and share work for you to review. Your feedback helps us check that it fits the way your business actually runs.
You review the work at agreed checkpoints.
We test the important journeys together, including what happens when information is missing or someone needs a person to help. For AI, we check answers, permissions and handovers.
You try the journeys your customers and staff will use.
Once the agreed checks are complete and you approve, we organise the launch, walk your team through the system and explain how to manage the everyday changes.
Your team knows how to use it and where to get help.
We agree what ongoing support covers and how to request changes. As the business evolves, further improvements are scoped and priced before work begins.
Support and new work have clear boundaries.
Getting started
A point of contact, accurate business information and feedback at the agreed stages. We identify any content, account access or permissions needed for your project.
A website and a system connected to several business tools need different schedules. We agree milestones around the scope, available content, access and your review time.
Your proposal sets out ownership, account access and any third-party licences, along with handover and export arrangements. We clarify these before the build begins.
We discuss the effect on scope, timing and cost before taking on the extra work. Ongoing support and future improvements are agreed separately in your proposal.
